What's the difference between DIY/Self-Host and Sportamingo PRO?
The DIY/Self-Host option ($1,500 one-time) gives you complete control by allowing you to download and self-host the software on your own servers. You maintain full data privacy and can customize the software, but you'll need to manage hosting (VPS required, $25-$100/month), SMTP services ($10/month), and handle software updates yourself. Sportamingo PRO ($50/month) includes cloud hosting, SMTP costs, automatic update - perfect for clubs that want to get up and running without worrying about the technical details.
What does Sportamingo Gold (Full-Service Management) include?
Sportamingo Gold ($4,000/month) includes everything in Sportamingo PRO, plus a dedicated account representative who works directly with your club. They handle all administrative tasks including initial club setup, staff training, data entry, customer service requests from parents, event communications (pre and post-event details and exit surveys), and collecting past due balances. You get a complete hands-off experience with flexible scheduling - you can activate Gold for specific months when you need it most and pause it when it's not needed.
Can I switch between plans later?
Yes! Clubs can switch between the self-hosted DIY option and Sportamingo PRO at any time, and we'll help with data migration if you decide to change. Sportamingo Gold's full-service management is available as an add-on to either plan, so you can activate it whenever your club needs extra support, regardless of your current hosting choice.
What are the payment terms for each plan?
DIY/Self-Host: $1,500 one-time payment. Includes lifetime access to all features and one year of software updates. First year of Sports Club Payments annual membership fee for interchange-based pricing is waived.
Sportamingo PRO: $50/month paid annually ($600/year). Includes all hosting costs, SMTP services and automatic updates.
Sportamingo Gold: $4,000/month with flexible scheduling - activate for specific months as needed. Limited spots available so please schedule in advance.
If we self-host, what additional costs should we expect?
Virtual Private Server (VPS) Hosting:
$25-$100/month depending on which company you choose to host with. Sportamingo requires a VPS with at least 2GB of RAM and PHP 7+.
SMTP Provider:
~$10/month. This is required to send emails - we use SMTP2GO and have had a great experience with them.
Credit Card/ACH Payment Processing:
If you have an existing Stripe account you can hook it up to Sportamingo and we'll use it to process payments.
However, we highly recommend using a merchant account through Sports Club Payments. Some of our customers are saving upwards of $20,000 annually thanks to their interchange-based pricing (~2.3% effective rate as opposed to 2.9%+ $0.30 per transaction from traditional processors like Stripe and Paypal).
If you elect to use their interchange-based pricing plan we'll make sure the annual membership fee for the first year ($1500 value) is waived.
How does Sportamingo approach data privacy and security?
We've built our entire brand around verifiable data privacy and security for clubs. Your customer data is your data, not ours. Clubs who self-host can see our source code, so if we were engaging in any kind of data theft, it would become immediately obvious to anybody who cared to look.
With Sportamingo PRO, we'd be lying if we said we didn't have access to your data since it's hosted on our servers. However, you have our word that we will only access it to the extent required in order to provide adequate customer support.
Within Sportamingo, access to your data is limited to specific individuals who you have explicitly granted access to. The list of individuals with access to your data will be visible within your organization's admin panel and you can revoke access at any time.
Can we customize the software?
Yes! One of the key advantages of hosting on your own server is the ability to create custom extensions and tailor the software to your club's unique requirements. You will have full access to the codebase, allowing you to modify and extend functionality as needed. This makes it perfect for clubs with highly specific workflows that require custom solutions.
If you have a developer on staff, have them reach out and we'll be happy to help them get acquainted with the codebase APIs and best practices.
What's included with the free .app domain name in Sportamingo PRO?
Sportamingo PRO includes a free .app domain name and SSL certificate. This is included in your monthly subscription, so you don't need to worry about separate domain registration or renewal fees.
How does flexible scheduling work with Sportamingo Gold?
Sportamingo Gold subscriptions can be activated for specific months out of the year. For example, if your club is most active during tryout season and tournament months, you can activate Gold for those periods and pause it during slower months. This allows you to maximize the value of the service when it will help your club the most, without paying for months when you don't need the extra support.
What kind of support is included with each plan?
DIY/Self-Host: We provide technical support for installation and setup, but you’ll be responsible for ongoing server management and installing updates. If you need assistance you can shoot an email to our support team at any time.
Sportamingo PRO: Each club has their own dedicated account manager that will handle all of your customer support needs. Whenever you reach out you get immediate access to the same person that you already know, not some random new-hire that has no idea what your club is all about.
